How emilyEMR Began
The story of emilyEMR officially began in 2017 with Dr. Crippen—but in truth, its roots stretch back much further. At the time, Dr. Crippen was searching for electronic medical record (EMR) software that could support his growing aesthetic practice. What he found was disappointing. Most EMR systems were built for traditional medical fields—family medicine, dermatology, or general practice—and while they served those clinicians well, they simply weren’t designed with the unique needs of aesthetic clinics in mind.
What’s more, the few specialized solutions that did exist were often overpriced and out of reach for newer or smaller practices. There was clearly a gap in the market: aesthetic professionals needed a modern, affordable, all-in-one platform tailored specifically to their workflow and patients.
That vision sparked the beginning of emilyEMR.
Drawing on nearly two decades of experience as a clinic owner, Dr. Crippen began outlining what such a system would look like. He spoke with colleagues, peers, and industry experts to better understand what was missing—and what was truly needed—in an EMR solution for the aesthetic world.
The result? emily—named after Dr. Crippen’s daughter, who had just turned one when development began.
Today, emilyEMR is a complete, intuitive software platform built from the ground up for aesthetic clinics.
